Ryan is a United States Air Force Veteran who served for 13 years. After leaving Active Duty service, Ryan earned an MA in Educational Leadership, and a BA in Organizational Management from Ashford University. An AA in Instructional Technology, and an AA in Criminal Justice from The Community College of the Air Force.  Ryan continued his service to the community by becoming a civics and economics teacher, educating students in the Prince George and Chesterfield County school systems.

Elected to the Chesterfield County School Board in November 2019, Ryan represents the Matoaca District and served as School Board Chairman in 2021.  Ryan has led the fight to return students to in person learning, continuously advocated and voted to give parents choice on student mask wearing. He worked with the County Board of Supervisors to give bus drivers the largest pay raise in history and in our region. Ryan also worked with the Board of Supervisors to finally decompress teacher salary and give one of the largest teacher pay raises in history. It is also his priority to maintain fiscal responsibility and cut wasteful spending. A balanced budget is key to sustaining a great school system

Ryan and his wife Megan own and operate an insurance agency in Chesterfield County. They have four children, all of whom attend Chesterfield County Public Schools.  Ryan and his family attend church at Clover Hill Assembly of God.
